Marco Rivera received his Electronic Civil Engineer degree along with his Master of Science in Engineering with specialization in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de Concepción, Chile 2007-2008, respectively. He obtained his PhD in Electronic Engineering from the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Technical University Federico Santa María, in Valparaíso, Chile, in 2011 thanks to the grant from the Research Fund of Chile CONICYT. During the years 2011 and 2012, he worked full-time as a postdoctoral researcher and part-time professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Technical University Federico Santa María, in Valparaíso, Chile. His research interests include matrix converters, predictive control and digital control for high-power converters, four-legged converters and the development of high-performance control platforms based on Programmable Logic Arrays (FPGA). He is currently Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Talca, Curicó, Chile. In 2013, Prof. Rivera was awarded the “Doctoral Theses of the Chilean Academy of Sciences 2012” Prize, awarded to the best doctoral thesis developed in 2011 for national and foreign students in any program of exact or natural sciences that are members of the Chilean Academy of Sciences, Chile.
In 2015, Prof. Rivera was awarded the IEEE Excellent Teacher Award 2015, awarded by the Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry and the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers-Chile Section.
He is currently the professor with the most publications of the University of Talca.
