Les dejamos la sinopsis:

The Mbaracayu Educational Center is a boarding school for young rural and indigenous girls located in the MbaracayForest Nature Reserve in the department of Canindeyú in Paraguay. In 2018, the school won the Zayed Sustainability Prize to implement a project focusing on the provision of renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability and community strengthening.

The presentation describes the implementation of the project, focusing on the state-of-the-art technology installed in the middle of the forest, referring to hybrid solar panels which provides both hot water and electricity. It also highlights the forest conservation model, the role of empowering young rural and indigenous girls to became agents of change, including the recent book for children of all ages entitled ‘’Sustainable Adventures in Mbaracayu” as a celebration to innovation, diversity, and call to action.

The Mbaracayu Forest Nature Reserve is one of the last remaining block of continued forest with an exuberant biodiversity and a rich mix of cultures, located in the eastern region of the country.  Covering 64,000 hectares, the Mbaracayúu Forest  is a subtropical forest representing the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado, two ecosystems of highly importance for conservation, which only about 7% of its original area persists in the present. In 2000, this protected area, managed by Fundación Moisés Bertoni, became the core area to Mbaracayu Biosphere Reserve recognized by the UNESCO.
